Embodiment
Cultivate somatic fluency, claim self responsibility, & awaken life force energy.
We live in the digital age. The age of technology and information. The age of computers, screens, and aps. As a bodyworker since 2009, I have tended the bodies of this community and bared witness as we have become more and more entrenched in postures of collapse and disembodiment. Through technology we can connect through abstract networks of information, yet we lose touch with our humanity, our animal nature, our bodies, our belonging to each other and this land. May we remember our humanity and remember our sensual nature. May we embody our true nature, our authentic expression, and remember our connection with the Web of Life.

What does it mean to say that a person is embodied?
An embodied person is someone who is fully present in their physical body, deeply connected to their physical sensations, and integrates their mind, emotions, and spirit into their concrete actions and daily life, moving with authenticity and self-awareness rather than being disembodied or purely intellectual. It's about experiencing life through the senses, feeling emotions where they live in the body, and translating inner truths into outward conduct with integrity.
Key aspects of embodiment:
Presence & Awareness: Being grounded in the moment, noticing bodily sensations like tension, temperature, or gravity.
Integration: Uniting the physical self with your thoughts, beliefs, and spirit; seeing yourself as an integrated whole.
Authentic Expression: Expressing who you are through your words, movements, and actions, reflecting your inner reality.
Connection: Deepening the relationship between mind and body, and with the world and others through physical presence.
Process: It's an active, ongoing process of self-discovery and living intentionally, not a static state.
In Simple Terms:
Not just thinking, but feeling: Not just knowing an idea, but feeling it in your body.
Living your truth: Your body becomes a tangible way to show what you believe.
Being "at home" in yourself: Feeling comfortable and present in your own skin.
What is the Deep Body and Deep Body Movement?
The Deep Body is what we encounter when we find coherence in all of our layers: the physical, mental, emotional, sensual, perceptive, communal, and spiritual/archetypal layers of ourselves and the widening circles of our relations. The Deep Body is the holistic complexity of us; in cohesion, alignment, and harmony. Deep Body Movement is a modality that aims to acitvate the Deep Body by means of facilitated intuitive movement, sound, breath, touch, imagination, and inquiry. When we let the body lead, we know where to follow to find homeostasis and health. When we let the body lead, we give voice to what has been silenced for millenia. When we let the body lead, we begin to liberate the shackles of shame, trauma, and inheritances of intergenerational and cultural violence against bodies. Give voice to the body to express, and you will reclaim your Divine Feminine Intelligence. Regardless of gender, regardless of sex. When we give voice to the body, we give voice to the Goddess, to the Feminine, to the Womb, and to all of physical reality manifest. We give voice to the innate intelligence of creation creating itself through us.
Deep Body Movement is a philosophy, body of work and modality developed by Stefana Serafina of the Deep Body Institute. It comes from a long lineage that has ancient roots in shamanic practice and indigenous wisdom, and more modern relations and synthesis of dance healing, somatic experiencing, authentic movement, conscious movement, art healing and expressive arts, polyvagal theory, depth psychology, Internal Family Systems, and more. In the Deep Body Method, we orient from the ground up. Meaning, we shift our awareness to our bodies and invite expression through movement, sound, breath, and touch. Deep Body Movement facilitates intuitive somatic movement and expressive arts to bring consciousness into the physical body, and from there into the different bodies; weaving awareness and relation through the cognitive body, emotional body, sensual body, intuitive body, expressive body, archetypal body, and ancestral body. Bodies of wisdom. Bring it to the body. Put it to the movement. The physical body is where all the bodies and dimensions of wisdom converge. Through conversing in the languages of the primary soma : breath, movement, sound, and touch, we cultivate a practice of listening and responding to the intuition of the deep body from the inside out.
This is a place to drop into a practice of tending the Deep Body. Soul tending. A place to cultivate listening and intuition. Opening the channels for reception and transmission. Tending what is in a sacred ritual of allowing body and voice and breath to lead. These sessions can help to open the senses and make contact with deep innate wisdom.

We can gain access to our unique intelligence and expression, unlock pain patterns, creative blocks, and release stuck energies. We can free ourselves from the constructs and illusions of encultured colonialism and toxic structures of domination and power-over, and we can weave a harmonious relationship between the mind and the body. In a 90-minute 1:1 Embodiment Session, or a Deep Body Journey, we would begin with arriving, orientation, and grounding. Check-in and intention-setting. We would create the container, and then I would verbally guide a space for you to explore your body, sensations, emotions, expressions, and intentions through movement, breath, and sound. There will likely be music to help facilitate movement. My role is to facilitate a compassionate and curious conversation between you and your body. The possibilities are endless as are intentions. The journeys can be akin to parts work, dream work, emotional release, creative inspiration, somatic and psychic healing, wherever you body, intention, and spirit guide. There is space for integration at the end of the journey to journal, capture images, and verbally share about the experience.

I offer Group Deep Body Journeys where we explore different themes, stories, archetypes, and inquiries. In these Journeys I guide an intuitive movement space where imagination can awaken and the Soul can nourish. Sign-up for my newsletter to stay informed about my current Deep Body Offerings.
“Mouse created an incredible container (Animal Body) for growth, connection, and exploration! This container was so powerful, so mysterious, and so much fun. What a blessing to be in sacred space, to be held with reverence and care, to be given permission to be wild and weird, to be invited to transform!”
